Huang Xiaoming is a very popular actor and singer in China. He has starred in a number of successful television shows, and has appeared regularly in top money-making Chinese films. Huang plays nearly everything, from romantic leads, to warriors, to Buddhist monks. He contributes vocals to many of his films.

Born to an engineering father and an accountant mother, Huang was encouraged into the Beijing Film Academy by his teachers, where his classmates were Zhao Wei and Chen Kun. After graduating, Huang played Tian Long Tai Zi for 13 episodes of Pai an jing qi - Amazing Cases with Alec Su, aired in June 2002. The show wrote his character out.

He played the lead character Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty for three seasons of Da Han Tianzi - The Prince of Han Dynasty with Chen Daoming, aired over Beijing TV from 2003 to 2005, the show was a huge ratings grabber, making Huang a star.

After playing Ki Fung in Long wei fu zi - Legend of the Dragon (released in May 2005) with Hung Sammo Kam-Bo, he worked with director Feng Xiaogang, playing General Yin Sun in his loose retelling of Hamlet, Ye yan - The Banquet (released in September 2006) with Zhang Ziyi.

Then, Huang was selected to play lead role of Yang Guo for 38 episodes of Shen diao xia lu - The Return of the Condor Heroes with Liu Yifei, aired over China Central Television (CCTV) in March 2006. He did a bit as a Traffic Officer in the rom-com Ai qing hu jiao zhuan yi II: Ai qing zuo you - Fit Lover (released in November 2008) with Lam Kar Yan, and Huang had a small role (as did Zhao Wei and Donnie Yen) as Yinqiao in Jian guo da ye - The Founding of a Republic (released in September 2009) with Tang Guoqiang as Mao Zedong.

Huang played Takeda / Wu Tian in the Japanese occupation historical film Feng sheng - The Message (released in September 2009) with Zhou Xun, and played Wong Shun-Leung in the period kung-fu movie Yip Man 2 (released in April 2010) with Donnie Yen.

He played Tang Bohu in the period comedy Tang Bohu dian Quixiang 2 zhi Si Da Caizi (released in July 2010) with Zhang Jingchu, and played Luo Xi for 14 episodes of Pao mo zhi xia - Summer Desire with Barbie Hsu, aired over Formosa Television from May to August 2010.

For director Chen Kaige, Huang played Han Jue / Han Xianzi in the historical drama Zhao shi gu er - Sacrifice (released in Deember 2010) with Ge You. Huang has a small part in the rom-com sequel to Chi Ming yi Chun Kiu - Love in a Puff, called Chun Kiu yi Chi Ming - Love in the Buff (released in March 2012) with Miriam Chin Wah Yeung.

Haung won several major Asian cinema acting awards for his performance as Cheng Dongqing, one of three friends running an English school in China in Zhong Guo he huo ren - American Dreams in China (released in May 2013) with Tong Dawei.

Huang starred in the comedy Ma de 2 hao - Saving Mother Robot (released in August 2013) with Vivian Hsu, and the comedy Sa jiao nu ren zui ming - Women Who Flirt (released in January 2014) with Zhou Xun.

While filming the historical fantasy Bai fa mo nu zhuan zhi ming yue tian guo - The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom (released in April 2014) with Fan Bingbing, Haung fell from a wire flying harness and fractured two toes in his left foot. When completed, the IMAX®  3-D film became a success.

Huang played a criminal psychologist in Bo fung yu - Insanity (released in April 2015) with Sean Lau, then tried a producer's hat on for size, also starring in the romance He yi sheng xiao mo - You Are My Sunshine (released in April 2015) with Yang Mi. He then starred alongside long-time friend Zhao Wei for producer Justin Lin in the comedy Hollywood Adventures (released in June 2015); to promote the film, all three were asked to make their imprints in the Chinese Theatre Forecourt.

Huang plays a Buddhist monk named Xuan Zang, seeking enlightenment in the historical film Da Tang Xuan Zang (released in April 2016) with Xu Zheng.

Huang was also co-executive producer on the computer gaming romance Wei wei yi xiao hen qing cheng - Love O2O (released in August 2016) with his wife Angelababy in the lead. Huan starred in the spy satire Tou tian te wu - Mission Milano (released in September 2016) with Andy Lau, and played Ping Zhang for 29 episodes of the period revenge fantasy Wind Blows in Chang Lin (Nirvana in Fire II) with Chang Hui-Wen, aired over Beijing TV in December 2017.

He played Chen Peng in the multi-generational period film Wu wen xi dong - Forever Young (released in January 2019) with Zhang Ziyi, and has a major role as Shu Ren in Escape Plan 2: Hades (released in June 2018) with Sylvester Stallone.

Huang plays a Chinese firefighter battling a burning refinery in Lie huo ying xiong - The Bravest (released in July 2019), and stars in the period drama television show Bin bian shi hai tang hong - Winter Begonia aired over IQIYI in March 2020. He has a role in the boxing flic Crazy Fist (released in August 2021) with Zhao Wei.

More recent credits include Si Hai (releassed in January 2022), Ode to Spring with (Dongyu Zhou (released in July 2022), and Heart's Motive with Ni Yan (releassed in 2022).
